在英语中，如果要强调某个句子成分，常用的句型是：
It is/was…that/who…
该句型常用来强调的句子成分有主语、宾语和状语，但很少用来强调其他成分。
在使用该句型的时，要注意：
1、需要强调的成分要放到is/was后面；
2、其余成分紧跟that/who之后；
3、如果强调的成分表人，也常用who来连接；如果表其他成分，则都用that；
4、如果原句的谓语动词是一般式，强调句中的be采用is；如果原句的谓语动词是过去式，强调句中的be则采用was。
下面我们就来梳理梳理该强调句型的用法。
一、强调主语
【例句1】Jack is the tallest boy in his class.
强调句：It is he who/that is the tallest boy in his class.
【例句2】They used to be our best friends.
强调句：It was they who/that used to be our best friends.
【注意】
无论被强调的名词或代词主语是单数还是复数，强调句的主谓结构都统一采用单数形式的it is/was。
二、强调宾语
【例句1】They always drink coffee in the afternoon.
强调句：It is coffee that they always drink in the afternoon.
【例句2】She lent me some books five days ago.
强调句：It was some books that she lent me five days ago.
【注意】
1、对于双宾动词，其引导的直接宾语和间接宾语都可以被强调。比如上面例句2中的间接宾语me也可以被强调，即：
It was me who/that she lent some books five days ago.
2、强调句也可以用来强调介词后的宾语。如：
【例句3】He talked to the teacher on the phone for an hour.
强调句：It was the teacher that he talked to on the phone for an hour.
三、强调状语
英语里常可被强调的是方式状语、地点状语和时间状语。比如：
He often plays basketball with his classmates in the gym on weekends.
强调地点状语：It is in the gym that he often plays basketball with his classmates on weekends.
强调时间状语：It is on weekends that he often plays basketball in the gym.
四、not…until…的强调句
not和until作为句型搭配用法，往往是分开的，但是如果要强调，则会合在一起，即：
It is/was not until…that…
此时，主句的否定结构到了强调句中药变为肯定结构。比如：
【例句1】His father won’t come back until midngiht every day.
It is not until midnight that his father will come back every day.
【例句2】His father didn’t come back until midnight yesterday.
It was not until midnight that his father came back yesterday.
五、句子谓语动词的强调
除了主语、宾语和状语之外，句子的谓语也可以被强调，但不是通过上面的强调句，而是通过助动词do/does/did。只是，这三个助动词不能用来强调所有时态的句子，常可用来强调的时态有一般现在时和一般过去时。如：
一般现在时：She likes to go home by herself every day.
强调句：She does like to go home by herself every day.
一般过去时：She went home by herself yesterday.
强调句：She did go home by herself yesterday.
